Apple Pencil notes and PDF annotation on one surface
Drop in a lecture PDF, a scanned handout or a stack of photos and Mena turns it into a paginated notebook. The same ink works on a board, a note page and every page of the imported document — then exports back out as a PDF you can hand in.

- Pressure-sensitive freehand ink, highlighter and a rough hand-drawn style
- Draw to Shape snaps a sketched rectangle, ellipse or arrow into clean geometry on lift
- Page-by-page reader with a thumbnail sidebar, overview grid and in-document search
- Light, dark or automatic paper; export the whole annotated document as a PDF
One file, any page count
Mena stores a single copy of the imported file no matter how many pages it has, so a 300-page textbook does not multiply in your library. Large attachments upload to iCloud in chunks, which means the annotated version reaches your other devices intact.
Highlight now, review later
Select a highlighted passage and turn it into a flashcard without leaving the page. The card is scheduled with FSRS-5 on-device, so the thing you marked in week two comes back exactly when you are about to forget it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I annotate a PDF with Apple Pencil in Mena?
Yes. Import the PDF, open it page by page and ink directly on any page with pressure sensitivity, highlighter and Draw to Shape. Export the annotated file back out as a PDF.
Does Mena support handwriting search?
Mena searches the text inside imported documents and the text elements on your boards. Ink strokes are indexed by position and playback time rather than transcribed.
